Pavement-Vehicle Interaction - Lawmaker Factsheet
NCAT examined the wide range of scientific research and literature regarding pavement-vehicle interaction and found that current research shows that of the 3 factors that affect drivability — roughness, texture, and deflection — a pavement’s smoothness and megatexture have the greatest influence on fuel economy. The macro- and microtexture of a well-maintained pavement are a smaller contributing factors, while deflection is an unquantified minor factor at best. Download this factsheet to share with lawmakers and the driving public the research findings.
